About Into the Woods Musical
Into the Woods is a musical by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine that intertwines Grimm fairy tales—Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel, and Little Red Riding Hood—linked by a new story of a childless Baker and his Wife. Act I follows their quest to break a Witch's curse by gathering magical items, resulting in "happily ever after" for all. Act II explores the consequences of these wishes, where characters face a vengeful Giant, learning that actions have lasting, often disastrous, repercussions.
